Frequently Asked Questions

What is an Artist's Alley?

Oh, man! It’s simply the best-est place at a con! We’re talking Artists to the left, Artists to the right- All day, All Artists! This is a place in the convention set aside for people to sell their handmade art.  The tables are usually quite affordable, and some artists will even split a table.

Can I really post for free?

Yep, up to 3 items! Any person over 18 that resides in the United States can set up a Hobbyist level account for free. It’s not a lesser version of posting- you get all the frills of the posting for free!

Does Artist's Alley keep any of my sales?

No. Artist’s Alley does not keep any portion of your sales.

As a part of your registration, you’ll use Stripe Connect to link your shop with your bank or card. When you sell an item, the transaction is between your Stripe Connect and the customer, using our site as the host.  You must collect and submit any taxes due for your sales.

We get this question a lot.  We understand.  You’ve been hurt.  You’ll talk about it when you’re ready.

Can I have more than one account?

Can’t get enough a a good thing, eh? Well, we get it.  Unfortunately, we ask that you limit yourself to one account, free or paid.

Ah, but how will we know?   Well, it’s not a contest.  You vs Us to get one over on the website wasn’t the intention we had when we started Artist’s Alley.  We ask that you not take advantage of the website or the other Artists there by taking advantage of any work around solutions.  Be nice, play fair, and together we’ll bring back ethical art sales.

Why do I have to wait until I am 18 to get my own account?

It’s a legal thing, honestly.  We started sewing and crafting when we were in our early teens, so we get it.  But, young humans under the age of 18 are not allowed to agree to anything legally binding.  When you post here, there are many things you are agreeing to that are legally binding.  That’s why you have to be 18 to have an account and post items.

Emancipated Minor?  We’ve been there, too, friend.  Use the Contact Us form and let us know, we’ll get back to you and let you know what we’ll need to keep the lawyers at bay.  Then, we’ll get your account set up so you can post (yes- even the free level!).  No worries, we got yer back!
